Blizzard Warning
Loyal to our nightmares,
great winter storms cross
frozen plains like
dark steam locomotives
pulling long trains of boxcars
full of fear.
Expecting to waken buried alive
under deep drifts
like angry ocean waves,
instead, we rise to find only
weightless white layers
of inconvenient snow.
